Bedok South and Sungei Bedok, the last two stations of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), will open on 26 December together with Xilin station on the Downtown Line, Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow said on 4 November. Sungei Bedok will be an interchange between the two lines.
New Stations
Opening Date
Havelock to Changi Business Park
RTS Link to Johor
What Changes for Residents
The new stations link two major lines in the east and give residents faster, more direct routes. A trip from Havelock to Changi Business Park, which now takes about 70 minutes with a bus transfer, will take about 45 minutes without one. Residents in the east will be able to ride the TEL straight into the city and north to Woodlands. From Woodlands North, they will be able to connect to the Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS Link when it opens in February 2027.
The stations also improve access to employment hubs such as Changi Business Park and Tampines Regional Centre.
More Rail Ahead
Mr Siow, speaking at Singapore Urban Mobility Week, said the Government aims to keep trains the most convenient choice. The Jurong Region Line and Cross Island Line are under construction, and the Seletar and Tengah lines are being planned. He also mentioned the return of free travel before the morning peak at selected North East Line and Sengkang-Punggol LRT stops, to spread out demand.
